We weaned Bella's Baby on the 17th of September. Just two days after her five month birthday and the "ideal date for weaning" according to the trusy Farmer's Almanac. (http://www.farmersalmanac.com/).
There may be some truth to the selection of the dates since the weaning was one of the quietest I had seen. The baby stayed with Angel for the night but her confidence grew fast and she was eager to get out in the herd with the other horses.
She whinnied a few times but truthfully Bella barely looked back. Stella is almost her size - totally huge and Bella has been eating around the clock to keep her baby looking so great and chubby!
Yesterday Jordan's school was closed so we turned it into wash the baby day. She even put cute braids in her mane and while she ran Angel on the trail hill, the baby followed with glee!
