Poetka VF+// is retired at the May Santa Barbara Show

Thank you to everyone who helped make Poe's Retirement Celebration so special! I was especially impressed with how hard the girls worked on their horses getting them ready. Thank you to all the parents who had to coordinate this busy weekend to let their children be a part of this memorable experience.
The AHASFV Show Committee was also incredible to work with, very flexible and as always extremely supportive of the girls. Carol Lee, the announcer, did a fantastic job announcing the presentation and from what everyone was saying, the girls were the talk of the show! Thank you, too to my dad, to Heather & Holly and to Jim Lowe for sharing his barn with us.

Also, congratulations to Brooke & Ashley on their wins in Sport Horse In Hand with Gracie and Snapper!
Poe will now live out her life with the Landon & Wendelburg families in Hidden Hills and I know we will always remember how lucky we were to have her as a part of our barn and our lives.

Congratulations, Jordan!

Have you noticed how much time Jordan is spending at the barn while she is trying to "rest" her knee? Sounds familiar. It is no surprise that Jordan has reached and passed her first Milestone with the Arabian Horse Association. She splits her time with Crimson & Gracie and is doing fantastically with both! The Saddle Creek Ridge is a weekly event! Here is Jordan riding Crimson and presenting Gracie in Poe's presentation.

Congratulations, Brooke!

Brooke & Lola have completed their first Milestone with the Arabian Horse Association! I am sure it was easy because Lola still has energy after a 15-mile trail ride! Her next Milestone will be awarded at 100 hours - which shouldn't take her much for than a week or two once she is back on her feet. Congratulations, Brooke on a job well done.
Here is a picture of Brooke jumping Lola over the barrels - her favorite and showing Gracie at the Class A show in Santa Barbara.

Congratulations, Ashley!

Ashley has reached a milestone in the Frequent Rider Program with the Arabian Horse Association! In the past month Ashley has ridden 28 hours - mostly on Sonnet of course but she also schooled Buck Light and Snapper. Her next Milestone will be 100 Miles! Good luck, Ashley and congratulations on your first lapel pin!

Cinco De Mayo Gymkhana

The day after Hannah, Jordan, and Brooke finished their 15 miles ride in Ahmanson, they were fired up for the Cinco de Mayo Gymkhana in Hidden Hills. Ashley & Sonnet also attended along with Alexa & Poetka. Grace rode Gracie in her first show ever!

Julia rode Cameo over to support her friends and our youngest girls charmed the crowd when Alexa led Kristin in the Barrels & Keyhole classes in Kristin's first show.

Instead of ribbons the girls won buckles for first place, pajama bottoms and hats for other places and cute Hidden Hills Horsemen's tops for the High Point Champions of the day. Everyone was thrilled with their new HHHA clothing!

The girls finished the day by washing all of the horses, treating the baby, painting fences, and visiting Callaia.

Wyatt's Run - 100 Miles in Ahmanson w/ Shannon Griefer

Jordan, Hannah, Helena, Brooke, Shannon, Nancy & the runners
On May 3rd the girls were invited by ultra-marathon runner, friend and mom, Shannon Farar-Griefer to join them for a loop in Ahmanson on her journey to run 100 miles straight in 24 hours. The race called "Wyatt's Run" was held to support friends Read & Nancy Jackson and to honor their son Wyatt who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3. The Jackson's have admirably dedicated all of their time and resources to this cause and have been an inspiration to countless parents. For more information please visit http://www.act-today.org/
Away they go - off into the sunset
Shannon is a dear friend to the girls and the horses and when people ask me "How can she run 100 miles?", I tell them she has a big heart. Her greatest accomplishment is as a mom and last year she welcomed her 3rd son to the family at the age of 46! She is still breast-feeding Jet and her was there at her brief rests every 10 miles or so!
Beautiful Shannon & Jet - Breastfeeding Mile 40
Our girls were both excited & honored to be joining Shannon for 15 miles on her journey; this cause is dear to Helena's heart since her sister, Gabriella suffers from Autism. Even though the girls were on horseback, they found it hard to keep up with the runners and had quite an adventurous ride. The girls separated from the runners and found themselves "lost" for about an hour. They crossed a large stream with branches, saw a deer running through the fields and named a coyote their "Guardian Angel". I am sure this is a day they will always remember and even though they came back exhausted and in tears with scrapes & bruises - they had a great attitude and a new motto "Ain't no turning back".
The Fantastic Four - All smiles, before the race
Our horses took good care of the group, I like to call "The Survivors - Ahmanson". Girls, every day you make me proud and that day was no exception!
