Welcome Padron's Lil Penny (Dru) to our barn!

Our early Christmas miracle, Dru was welcomed to our barn on Saturday. Dru is a 13.3 hand bay roan tobiano pony.

A horse for Alexandra, though she may be in love with Persja, Dru has shown successfully on the Pinto Circuit winning numerous world championships and collecting ROM points.

More importantly, Dru is a registered Half-Arabian and loves to jump. She is a lovely mover and enjoyed her first day with the girls. We are so happy that Dru came to live with us.

ETI Corral 37 Horse Show

We had a great time at the ETI Show last Sunday. Not good enough to repeat it this week (though Ashley was game!) but enough to go back next year. Even though the days are long, we enjoyed each other's company, our fellow exhibitors and the great staff (mostly Sharyn) that help run the events.

The judging was very fair and we did not feel too out of place with our Arabians.

There were a few sticky moments in the jumping classes when our horses were asking, "You want me to jump those flowers?!" But everyone did well and we held our own in the Hunter Class which had 17 entries!

It was Bella's first show and she received a first and a second in Halter! Hannah & Ashley did a great job showing her and Hannah has really taught her a great halter stance.

Buck Light had his first away show with Ashley (Ash Light) and they were awesome and improved with each class.

Lilian joined us at the show (you can see her photographs on this site) and had a great time with everyone. Some of my favorite images are from the time we spent at home after the show.

What a special day and we can't wait to go back!

Ahmanson Trail Ride

Due to the fires, we were unable to ride with the West Hills Hunt (http://www.westhillshunt.com/) on Saturday so we went to Ahmanson instead. The day could not have been more beautiful, the weather was perfect!

A group of 11 rode out to meet Lisa and we started off at a quick pace. Everyone was matched with the best horse and we all enjoyed galloping around the hills and trails. Lisa & Caris even cantered for the first time and I think she loved it. We even ran into Shannon Griefer!

After a 3-hour ride, we washed all the horses, fed them lots of treats and headed to Island's for lunch. It was an unforgettable day and the horses & kids both loved it.

Our newest additon to the barn, Poet!

Poet wins 1st & 2nd in the Walk-Trot with Marguerite & Kristin
Not only does Poet look like a black stallion but he is a babysitter to our youngest and most beginner rides. Poet was trained in Country English Pleasure and loves the trails. He is so kind and good natured, he loves to sit with the weanling filly and the dog!

Poet came to us from our friends in Arizona who we also got Gracie & Lola from. He quickly became a favorite in the barn and Poet is loved by all of the girls. He does it all and is great as a bareback horse.

When Poet was a yearling, his owners taught him a few tricks. We thought we would see if he remembered them - and he did! Even after 10 years without practicing. He is so smart! Poet counts, bows, rears, and lays down!

Enjoy these pictures of Poet, our only gelding, in action performing some of his tricks with Ashley at Yom Kippur Holiday Camp.

AHASFV Trail Ride at Rancho Sierra!

It was freezing when we headed over to Newbury Park for the trail ride with AHASFV Club members but that did not deter the girls from wanting to ride.

Jeff & Teri came to Hidden Hills to pick up Coco and Poet for the ride. It was great for Teri to get to see Coco again and I think she had a nice ride on her. Dish and I stayed back and went on a little hike to take pictures.

Let's just say, it was a fun and interesting day that Ashley, Jordan, and Julia will always remember.

Old Agoura Reyes Adobe Days Gymkhana/Playday - Happy Birthday, Hannah!

These special shows only come once a year so we knew we had to go! Before the rising costs of insurance and the rarity of volunteers, Old Agoura was host to some of the best shows in the West Valley. It is truly a close-knit community and everyone there was friendly, helpful, and positive.
Helena & Persjaa
The show was run exceptionally well; the announcer was great, the Clown was entertaining, and the judge required all riders to show control of their horse before and after each run.
Ashley & Buck Light
Our Sapphire Crew was exciting and their enthusiasm spread through the park like a California wildfire! Not only was it a fun day but it was a wonderful promotion for Arabians as the announcer kept commenting on never seeing so many Arabians in one gymkhana and making a point of saying how impressed she was by both the girls and the horses!
Hannah & Jade
It was also a special day because it was Hannah's birthday! What an honor she chose to spend it at a horse show and she won her last class, the Single Stake as well!
Kristin & Poet
There were classes there that we had never seen before - Barrier Crawl was fun - you had to dismount your horse, crawl through a box, and mount them then run back. Also, the Big T was interesting but not the kid's favorite exactly!
Julia & Coco
Julia took home the High Point honors in a close race to the finish and won the coveted buckle by Montana Silversmith and donated by our friends at Calabasas Saddlery!
Jordan & Crimson
Egg & Spoon Pairs was a relaxing way to end the day. It was a fantastic event and I just wish we didn't have to wait a year to go back! Old Agoura is a magical place.

Callaia goes for her first walk...

Callaia went on her first walk. Ashley joined us with Buck Light and he was very concerned that we were taking her out. He could not keep his eyes off her.
She enjoyed her walk, met some friends along the way on Paradise Valley, and overall had a nice time.

Here are some pictures from our day. She is growing up to be a beautiful girl!
