Back-to-School Gymkhana in Hidden Hills!

The Back-to-School Gymkhana in Hidden Hills was so much fun and one of the best ones ever - almost every horse & rider combo showing were debuting at it was fun to watch the rising stars in our barns.
Veterans Hannah & Jade were the only duo with experience and Hannah had great rides to show 'em how it's done.

In Division A (the fast one!), Jordan & Crimson did an outstanding job and earned the High Point Championship of the Day! Not bad, considering Crimson only schooled for a week, got all of her lead changes on the Poles and has never seen chalk in an arena before! This pair is outstanding together!

Ashley & Buck Light weren't too far behind in Division B at his first gymkhana ever. Buck Light loves to run home, not so thrilled with the stopping part and even though he was also wary of the chalk, he & Ash won the High Point of the Day in their Division.

Juliet & Barbary had a stellar performance and she took home two 2nd's, a 1st place ribbon and trophy and smiled the whole day. She shared Barbary with Emma Nairin who was also all smiles and enjoyed hanging out on Dessa double.

Emma fits right in to our barn - she was getting dq'ed left and right but still had a great time and rode Barbary home at the end of the day. Both girls would have rather shown bareback but we can't break all the rules!

Julia and Mandy were also debuting and on new horses. Of course Julez rode her baby Coco flew around the arena. I know these two are headed for a lot of success at the gymkhanas - Coco loved it and Julia loves to go fast!
Mandy showed Lola for the first time and despite getting off to a rough start, she ended winning Keyhole and had great rides later on. Both girls earned a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th!!! How lucky!

Helena and Dessa were soooo fast today. She is right on the line of her Divisions and earned all of her ribbons by less than a tenth of the second! (Sort of like the Olympics). We could tell Dessa was hot this morning - when she trotted over the the arena, she was snorting and flagging her tail.

Kristin & Poet also debuted at both of theirs first gymkhana and Kristin's first time showing off of the leadline. She did a fantastic job and her and Poet earned the High Point Championship in Division D. Not bad for their first time!
The best part of the day? Bliss & the HHHA provided Back-to-School buckets filled with presents to ALL of the exhibitors! There were even apples for the horses - what a great way to end the day!

Sagebrush Cantina End-Of-Summer Celebration!

On Saturday night we all got dressed up to meet at Sagebrush for an end-of-summer dinner and concert. Hannah's uncle's band Full House was playing at 8pm and the girls could not wait to finish their dinners and get up to dance! Our kids are such Rock Stars, they climbed on the stage and Ashley's brother Nick stole the whole show!

The staff received their presents which included gift bags and everyone received pictures from the past summer. The incredible lost-and-found was tallied (even Geffen had some!) and Jordan definitely won with 38 pieces! Hannah had the least with 2 and both girls earned prizes! More clothing, of course.

The "We Love Arabians" tank tops were a hit and the girls had to answer trivia questions correctly to earn one. Topics included world geography, horse colors, training, and even some history!

We are all sad to see the summer go but it was the best one yet and we are all looking forward to an even better summer next year. I am sure the horses will be very lonely come Monday morning!

RageJax Foundation Chairty Horse Show in Ojai

Even though we were exhausted from the long week, we headed out to Rancho Royale in Ojai to compete in the 1st Annual RageJax Foundation Horse Show.

The horse show was being held in honor of two sisters who lost their lives in a car accident. We applaude the parents, friends, and family for putting on such a great event.

For more info please visit http://ragejaxfoundation.blogspot.com/2004/10/ragejax-foundation.html

We all feel lucky to have been a part of such a positive event and look forward to supporting the foundation next year with even more horses. Please enjoy a few of the pictures from the show!

Our Camping Trip to Rancho Oso, Santa Barbara!

We had so much fun taking a break from the heat and escaping on a camping trip to Rancho Oso Ranch! Seven girls, 10 horses, and 3 "Moms" came along for one of the best memories of the summer.

The horses are settled easily in their pipe corrals and we were lucky enough to find a haven under the huge elm tree that is hundreds of years old. Even Little Dish found comfort in his spot, watching out for squirrels and digging for a cool place to lay down and relax.

We parked the horses trailer, turned it into a tackroom and enjoyed 3 days of blissful riding, splashing through the river, jumping the logs and taking excursions in search of food.

On the first evening we enjoyed a relaxing sunset drive to Buellton where we dined on homemade stew & potatoes at the famous restaurant AJ Spurs. Even better was our next meal under the stars of hot dogs, beans, and s'mores.

The riding was great. We explored the waterfall trail, got lost a few times and of course rode where we weren't supposed to! The most fun was searching for the water at a fast paced trot through a winding trail - once we found it, it was like reaching paradise!

The last day we enjoyed creating a cross-country course using fallen trees and logs through the oak shaded path near the stone lodge. The horses enjoyed their cross-country fences and galloping just as much as the girls.

We can't wait to go back next year and this time we will stay for a whole week!

Nedrika, AshAttack, Catester, SpacyGracy, Viva La Helena, Hannahlulu, Jessipess, Dishilicious.
(P.S.) We came home to an exciting car fire and a long week!

August - Our Mare of the Month - MCA Crimson Lace

Crimson is amazing. Not only did she take a break from being ridden for 12 years to have 7 champion babies, but she is the nicest horse to be around! A month ago she tore open her shoulder and was a dream to treat. Even when the wound was painful, you could see her do her best to stand quietly.

Under saddle, her and Jordan are taking on the world. She has ridden her on a Full Moon Ride, taught her how to jump, soared up the Ridge AND she won the High Point at her first English Horse Show AND at her first gymkhana ever. She is partial to Jordna riding her and gives most people trouble if they are not Jordan!

She is beautiful to look at too. Her face is typey and she has the best ears in the barn. We all LOVE her wavy mane which takes 21 braids and her long, thick tail. Her body is short coupled and perfect and her neck in incredibly well shaped. Her dam Foxie Bey is famous and you can see why.

I am personally looking forward to all of the fun and adventures Jordan and Crimson will have together in the future. I know they will have a lot of success and Crimson has a home for life with us.
