Wyatt's Run - 100 Miles in Ahmanson w/ Shannon Griefer

Jordan, Hannah, Helena, Brooke, Shannon, Nancy & the runners
On May 3rd the girls were invited by ultra-marathon runner, friend and mom, Shannon Farar-Griefer to join them for a loop in Ahmanson on her journey to run 100 miles straight in 24 hours. The race called "Wyatt's Run" was held to support friends Read & Nancy Jackson and to honor their son Wyatt who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3. The Jackson's have admirably dedicated all of their time and resources to this cause and have been an inspiration to countless parents. For more information please visit http://www.act-today.org/
Away they go - off into the sunset
Shannon is a dear friend to the girls and the horses and when people ask me "How can she run 100 miles?", I tell them she has a big heart. Her greatest accomplishment is as a mom and last year she welcomed her 3rd son to the family at the age of 46! She is still breast-feeding Jet and her was there at her brief rests every 10 miles or so!

Our girls were both excited & honored to be joining Shannon for 15 miles on her journey; this cause is dear to Helena's heart since her sister, Gabriella suffers from Autism. Even though the girls were on horseback, they found it hard to keep up with the runners and had quite an adventurous ride. The girls separated from the runners and found themselves "lost" for about an hour. They crossed a large stream with branches, saw a deer running through the fields and named a coyote their "Guardian Angel". I am sure this is a day they will always remember and even though they came back exhausted and in tears with scrapes & bruises - they had a great attitude and a new motto "Ain't no turning back".

Our horses took good care of the group, I like to call "The Survivors - Ahmanson". Girls, every day you make me proud and that day was no exception!
